About DropOps
DropOps removes the barrier between intent and execution. Drop a 7MB agent on any system, tell the AI what you need, and approve commands as it works.
It's infrastructure operations through conversation - the capabilities of an entire DevOps team, accessible to anyone who knows what they want to accomplish.
Why We Built This
There's a massive moat of costly friction between people with the right questions and the ability to get things done. Too many courses, certifications, and one-trick SaaS products standing between intent and execution.
The solution is eliminating the friction entirely.
DropOps was built to empower the everyman - whether you're a support engineer who could solve a ticket in minutes with the right access, a small business owner who needs monitoring, or a solo IT admin wondering if that legacy server is actually firewalled. These are solvable problems. The tools just haven't existed to solve them without becoming a specialist first.
What Sets DropOps Apart
AI requires the same vigilance as any system operating in production. It should be treated like an adversary - verified continuously, trusted contextually, and controlled explicitly.
- Human-in-the-Loop, Always - Every command requires your approval before execution. The AI reasons, plans, and proposes - you decide what runs. Human authority is the architecture.
- Zero Standing Privileges - Our Cloud Operator starts with zero AWS access. It requests permissions on-demand, you approve, it executes. All access revocable instantly.
- Zero Inbound Connectivity - Outbound-only connections. No listening ports, no attack surface. Works anywhere with HTTPS out - behind CGNAT, in air-gapped enclaves, on NAS devices.
- Drop-In, Drop-Out - A 7MB binary with zero dependencies. Copy it to any Linux or macOS system and run. If you hate it, delete the file and move on with your day.
- Assume the AI Can Be Wrong - We built DropOps assuming the environment is hostile and the AI can make mistakes. That's why every action is visible, every command requires approval, and every permission is revocable.
While 67% of early AI adopters report improved security posture, data privacy and security remains the #1 concern when evaluating AI solutions. DropOps was designed from day one to address this - trust and security built into the architecture from the start.
How It Works
- Operator Binary - A 7MB executable for any Linux or macOS system. No installation, no dependencies. Just run it.
- Cloud Operator - A pre-configured EC2 instance with Terraform, kubectl, AWS CLI, Ansible, and Helm. Intent-based policy execution - the AI requests only the AWS permissions it needs, when it needs them.
Both share the same core: least privilege, instant revocation, full audit trail, and you in control.
Who Built This
DropOps was built by Danny Barbour after nearly 30 years in tech - from building support organizations at Igneous and Rubrik to helping take a company through acquisition to IPO. Watching the rise of AI, one thing became clear: the opportunity wasn't to automate humans out of the loop. It was to amplify what humans can accomplish while keeping them in control.
Lateralus Labs was founded in 2024 with a single mission: eliminate the friction between knowing what needs to be done and actually doing it.
